The Azure Dragon, Qinglong in Chinese, is the head of the four symbols. Here’s a point we should pay attention to, that the Vermilion Bird is not a phoenix. According to Chinese ancient legend, phoenix is a divine bird reborn in the fire. By contrast, the Vermillion Bird is only one in the world, with no gender. It is immortal and more respectable than phoenixes. The Vermilion Bird symbolizes enthusiasm and strength, just like the summer and fire, carrying people’s yearn for south, hope and passion. Besides, according to the Book of Songs, the Vermillion Bird is the ancestor of Shang people (an early dynasty in China).&lt;br /&gt;
