New page

Gentry - Educated eilte that help rule, not based soley on economic standing but rather the education one recieved. While having a more stable economic background helped in becoming a Gentry by alowing education to become more easily attainable.

- Simply getting an education would not automatically allow you to become a Gentry, you had to pass exams and tests that would qualify you for such a position

- Gentry was not limited to just scholars, but tradesmen as well, but were still required to pass exams.

- Gentry were afforded more of a social elite class and standing in society

- Exuded influence over both commoners based on the knowledge, and local governments with their rulings on matters.

- Local Government didnt have a good grasp on "local" problems therefore turned to gentry for advice
