Dank des Fortschritts von Medizin, Hygiene und Technik werden Menschen immer älter. Die Grenze zur Unsterblichkeit scheint bald erreicht. Das Seminar beschäftigt sich mit theoretischen Grundsatzfragen, mit denen sich jeder Teilnehmer existentiell auseinandersetzt. Die Teilnehmer erarbeiten sich auch Antworten von Philosophen und Beispiele aus den verschiedenen Hochkulturen, in denen sich Religionen und Literaturen mit dem Altern, dem Tod, dem Leben nach dem Tod und dem Mythos der Unsterblichkeit auseinandergesetzt haben. <br /> <br /> Einige der Fragen, die im Laufe des Seminars gestellt werden sollen, sind: Warum haben sich philosophische Religionen wie der chinesische Daoismus das Erreichen der Unsterblichkeit als Ziel gesetzt? Welche Perspektiven und Konsequenzen ergeben sich, wenn Unsterblichkeit zur Realität wird? Welche Nachteile würde Unsterblichkeit bringen (Stichwort: Langeweile der Götter)? Entlasten künstliche Intelligenz, Personal Assistants und elektronischer Speicher das Gehirn? Ist ein Gehirn auf Elektronik übertragbar? Was ist der menschliche Geist?
