话说黛玉正在情思萦逗、缠绵固结之时，忽有人从背后拍了一下，说道：“你作什么一个人在这里？”黛玉唬了一跳，回头看时，不是别人，却是香菱。黛玉道：“你这个傻丫头，冒冒失失的唬我一跳。这会子打那里来？”香菱嘻嘻的笑道：“我来找我们姑娘，总找不着。你们紫鹃也找你呢，说琏二奶奶送了什么茶叶来了。回家去坐着罢。”一面说，一面拉着黛玉的手，回潇湘馆来，果然凤姐送了两小瓶上用新茶叶来。

The story says when Mascara Jade Forest is in twinning affection, she is slapped gently and hearing someone talking. "What are you doing here alone?" Shocked as Mascara Jade Forest is, looking back, she finds someone is Wiselotus Potterymaker. "You is such a silly girl. You came so rushly that almost frightened me to jump. So, where do you come from?" Wiselotus Potterymaker grins and says, "I come to look for my Miss in vain. Your servant girl, Nightingale, is also looking for you too because Splendid Phoenix King has sent some kind of tea. Please come home as soon as possible." The story says when Mascara Jade Forest is in twinning affection, she is slapped suddenly and hearing someone talking. "What are you doing here alone?" Shocked as Mascara Jade Forest is,she looks back and finds it is Wiselotus Potterymaker. "You are such a clumsy girl that you came so rushly that almost frightened me to jump. So, where do you come from just now?" Wiselotus Potterymaker grins and says, "I come to look for my miss,but in vain for several times. Your servant girl, Nightingale, is looking for you too because Splendid Phoenix King has sent you some kind of tea. Please come home as soon as possible." While saying it, Wiselotus Potterymaker and Mascara Jade Forest return to Bamboo Lodge hand in hand, finding the good and fresh tea sent by Splendid Phoenix King not surprisingly.--Chen Kun (talk) 13:37, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

黛玉和香菱坐了，谈讲些这一个绣的好，那一个扎的精，又下一回棋，看两句书，香菱便走了，不在话下。且说宝玉因被袭人找回房去，只见鸳鸯歪在床上看袭人的针线呢。见宝玉来了，便说道：“你往那里去了？老太太等着你呢，叫你过那边请大老爷的安去。还不快去换了衣裳走呢！”袭人便进房去取衣服。宝玉坐在床沿上褪了鞋，等靴子穿的工夫，回头见鸳鸯穿着水红绫子袄儿，青缎子坎肩儿，下面露着玉色绸袜，大红绣鞋，向那边低着头看针线，脖子上围着紫绸绢子。宝玉便把脸凑在脖项上，闻那香气，不住用手摩挲，其白腻不在袭人以下。

Mascara Jade Forest and Wiselotus Potterymaker sat down and talked about how wonderful the embroidery was. Then they played chess and did a little reading. And Wiselotus Potterymaker left without saying any sentences. When Mascara Jade was called to a room by Mandarin Duck ,she saw Mandarin Duck was staring at Wiselotus Potterymaker's needlework. As Precious Jade was coming,she said: "Where have you been? The old lady is waiting for you. She wants you to go over there and greet the milord. Hurry up changing your clothes and go !"Then Aroma went into another room to get Precious Jade's clothes for him.It was not when Precious Jade sat down on the edge of the bed and took off his boots that he saw Mandarin Duck worn a red satin jacket, blue satin vest, with jade silk socks and bright red embroidered shoes. She was looking fixedly at the needlework, and around her neck was purple silk. Mascara Jade Forest and Wiselotus Potterymaker sat down and talked about how wonderful this was embroided and how fine that was stitched. Then they played chess and did a little reading. Wiselotus Potterymaker left then and we leave her for now. When Precious Jade was called to a room by Mandarin Duck, he saw Mandarin Duck was staring at Wiselotus Potterymaker's needlework. As Precious Jade was coming, she said: "Where have you been? The old lady is waiting for you. She wants you to go over there and greet the master. Hurry up changing your clothes and go!" Then Aroma went into another room to get Precious Jade's clothes for him. It was not before Precious Jade sat down on the edge of the bed and took off his boots that he saw Mandarin Duck wearing a red satin jacket, blue satin vest, with jade silk socks and bright red embroidered shoes. She looked at the threat with a lowered head. She had a purple silk handkerchief around her neck. Precious Jade moved his face close to her neck and smelt the fragrance. She is looking fixedly at the needlework, and around her neck is purple silk. 便猴上身去，涎着脸笑道：“好姐姐，把你嘴上的胭脂赏我吃了罢。”一面说，一面扭股糖似的粘在身上。鸳鸯便叫道：“袭人，你出来瞧瞧。你跟他一辈子，也不劝劝他，还是这么着。”袭人抱了衣裳出来，向宝玉道：“左劝也不改，右劝也不改，你到底是怎么着？你再这么着，这个地方儿可也就难住了。”一边说，一边催他穿衣裳，同鸳鸯往前面来。见过贾母，出至外面，人马俱已齐备。刚欲上马，只见贾琏请安回来，正下马，二人对面，彼此问了两句话。只见旁边转过一个人来，说：“请宝叔安。”宝玉看时，只见这人生的容长脸儿，长挑身材，年纪只有十八九岁，着实斯文清秀。 He then come close wantonly with a fawning grin "Come on, sweetie,just let me taste your lips." He whines when he leaning to her stickily like melting sugar. Mandarin Duck then shouting " Out you see, Aroma! If you still remain the same, we will be stuck in this case again." Says her, rushing Bao Yu to get dressed and come to the front with Aroma. After paying a visit to Grandma, out they come. Everything is setted. Just when Precious Jade is mounting the horse, Romance Merchant comes back greeting. After getting down to the horse, they two stand toward each other and have some talks. “Send my sincere regards to you, Uncle Bao.” A man turns around and says. Precious Jade looks at him. After paying a visit to Grandma, out they came. Everything was setted. Just when Bao Yu was mounting the horse, Romance Merchant came back greeting. After getting down to the horse, they two stood toward each other and have some talks. “Send my sincere regards to you, Uncle Bao.” A man turned around and said. Precious Jade Merchant looked at him. 虽然面善，却想不起是那一房的，叫什么名字。贾琏笑道：“你怎么发呆，连他也不认得？他是廊下住的五嫂子的儿子芸儿。”宝玉笑道：“是了，我怎么就忘了？”因问他：“你母亲好？这会子什么勾当？”贾芸指贾琏道：“找二叔说句话。”宝玉笑道：“你倒比先越发出挑了，倒像我的儿子。”贾琏笑道：“好不害臊，人家比你大五六岁呢，就给你作儿子了？”宝玉笑道：“你今年十几岁？”贾芸道：“十八了。”原来这贾芸最伶俐乖巧的，听宝玉说像他的儿子，便笑道：“俗话说的好：‘摇车儿里的爷爷，拄拐棍儿的孙子。’虽然年纪大，山高遮不住太阳。只从我父亲死了，这几年也没人照管。宝叔要不嫌侄儿蠢，认做儿子，就是侄儿的造化了。”

Precious Jade Merchant thought he is familiar with Ruta Merchant but can’t tell his name. Romance Merchant smiled:”You're so that you didn’t remember his name. He is the son of the fifth sister in law who lives in the Porch.” Precious Jade Merchant said:” Yeah! How could I forget.” He asked Ruta Merchant,”How is your mother? What are you doing now?” Ruta Merchant pointed at Romance Merchant and said:”I’d like to talk with Second Uncle.” Precious Jade Merchant grinned:”You’re more handsome than past.You could almost be my son.” Romance Merchant chortled:”How shame you are! Your son? He’s five or six years older than you.” Precious Jade Merchant smiled:”How old are you?” “18.” Ruta Merchant answered. Ruta Merchant is smartest here so he seized this chance to add:” There is an old saying that ‘A grandfather in the cradle may have a grandson with a stick.’ Although I am older than you, I can”t shade your shining. Precious Jade Merchant thought he was familiar with Ruta Merchant but couldn't tell his name. Romance Merchant smiled:”How could you not even recognize him? He is the son of the fifth sister in law who lives in the Porch.” Precious Jade Merchant smiled:” Yeah! How could I forget.” Then he asked Ruta Merchant,”How is your mother? Why are you coming here?” Ruta Merchant pointed at Romance Merchant and said:”I'm coming to have a talk with my second Uncle.” Precious Jade Merchant grinned:”You’re more handsome than past.You could almost be my son.” Romance Merchant chortled:”How shame you are! Your son? He’s five or six years older than you.” Precious Jade Merchant smiled:”How old are you?” “18.” Ruta Merchant answered. 贾琏笑道：“你听见了？认了儿子，不是好开交的。”说着，笑着进去了。宝玉笑道：“明儿你闲了，只管来找我，别和他们鬼鬼祟祟的。这会子我不得闲儿，明日你到书房里来，我和你说一天话儿，我带你园里玩去。”说着，扳鞍上马，众小厮随往贾赦这边来。见了贾赦，不过是偶感些风寒。先述了贾母问的话，然后自己请了安。贾赦先站起来，回了贾母问的话，便唤人来：“带进哥儿去太太屋里坐着。”宝玉退出来，至后面，到上房。邢夫人见了，先站了起来，请过贾母的安，宝玉方请安。邢夫人拉他上炕坐了，方问别人，又命人倒茶。

Romance Merchant smiled and said:"Have you heard it? It will not be easy to adopt him as your godson." Saying that, he entered with laughter. And Precious Jade also smiled:" You can come my place anytime at your convenience. Don't play with these guys. I'm busy now. You come and see me in the study room tommrrow, and I'll talk with you all day long, and I'll take you to the park." Then he saddled up and got on the horse, leaving for Pardon Merchant's place with some footboys. After meeting Pardon Merchant and learning that he was just caught a wind chill occasionally, Precious Jade delivered Grandma Merchant's words and then greeted him. Pardon Merchant got up and awnsered Grandma Merchant's words, and then ask a servant in to lead Precious Jade to meet Lady City. So Precious Jade withdrew to the back and went to the upper room. Seeing him, Lady City firstly stood up and greeted Grandma Merchant towards him, and then Precious jade greeted her. She led him to sit on the heatable brick bed, asking how the others are doing and ordering tea for him.--Deng Lulu (talk) 12:16, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

After meeting Pardon Merchant and finding that he was suffering from nothing more serious than a chill, Precious Jade delivered Grandma Merchant's messages and then asked after his uncle on his own behalf. Pardon Merchant stood up and answered Grandma Merchant's words, and then ordered a servant to take Precious Jade to Lady Xing's room. So Precious Jade withdrew and followed the servant through the back and across the courtyard to the main reception room. Seeing him, Lady Xing rose to her feet to ask after Grandma Merchant, then sat down again to be asked after in turn by Precious Jade. 茶未吃完，只见贾琮来问宝玉好。邢夫人道：“那里找活猴儿去，你那奶妈子死绝了，也不收拾收拾？弄的你黑眉乌嘴的，那里还像个大家子念书的孩子？”正说着，只见贾环、贾兰小叔侄两个也来请安。邢夫人叫他两个在椅子上坐着。贾环见宝玉同邢夫人坐在一个坐褥上，邢夫人又百般摸索抚弄他，早已心中不自在了，坐不多时，便向贾兰使个眼色儿要走。贾兰只得依他，一同起身告辞。宝玉见他们起身，也就要一同回去。邢夫人笑道：“你且坐着，我还和你说话。”宝玉只得坐了。邢夫人向他两个道：“你们回去，各人替我问各人的母亲好罢。你姑姑、姐姐们都在这里呢，闹的我头晕，今儿不留你们吃饭了。”贾环等答应着便出去了。

While they were still sipping the tea, Jade Merchant came in to extend greetings to Precious Jade.“Where did this little ragamuffin come from?” Lady Xing scolded. “I don’t know what that nannie of yours can be thinking of to let you get into such a condition! Your eyebrows and lips are made to be as black as a crow! No one would ever think to look at you that you were an educated boy and came from an extended family!” While she scolded, Ring Merchant and Cymbidium Merchant arrived to send their regards to Lady Xing. Lady Xing made them sit on chairs. Seeing Precious Jade up on the same cushion with Lady Xing, and observing how she fondled and petted him, Ring Merchant soon began to feel uncomfortable and made a sign to Cymbidium Merchant indicating that they should go. Cymbidium Merchant had to do as he said, so they rose together to take their leave. Precious Jade said he would go with them, but Lady Xing stopped him with a smile: "You sit where you are! I’ve got something else to say to you." He was obliged to stay. Lady Xing turned to the other two: "When you get back, do each of you give my regards to your mothers. I won’t ask you to stay to dinner because I’ve already got the girls here and they are making so much rumpus that has given me a headache." 宝玉笑道：“可是姐姐们都过来了，怎么不见？”邢夫人道：“他们坐了会子，都往后头，不知那屋里去了。”宝玉说：“大娘说有话说，不知是什么话？”邢夫人笑道：“那里什么话，不过叫你等着，同姐妹们吃了饭去；还有一个好玩的东西，给你带回去玩儿。”娘儿两个说着，不觉又晚饭时候，请过众位姑娘们来，调开桌椅，罗列杯盘。母女、姊妹们吃毕了饭，宝玉辞别贾赦，同众姊妹们回家。见过贾母、王夫人等，各自回房安歇，不在话下。

Precious Jade grinned,"But my sisters all come. Where are they?" Lady City said,"After sitting for a while, they all went to some room at the back." Precious Jade said,"Aunt said you had something to tell me, what's the thing?" Lady City smiled,"there's no such thing, I just want you to wait until having dinner with your sisters. And I got something for you to bring home and have fun."The two tlaked, not realizing it's time to have dinner, so they invited all girls to come ,set the tables and chairs, and listed the cups and plates.Mother and daughter and sisters finished dinner. Precious Jade took his leave to Master Merchant and went home with his sisters. Lady Xing answers,"After sitting for a while, they have already went behind somewhere that I'm not sure." Precious Jade says,"Edlest aunt said you had something to say to me. What do you want to require me?" Lady Xing smiles and says,"there's nothing important. I just wandered to ask you to wait to have dinner with your sisters together. And I got something interesting for you; when you go back home, bring it with you to make fun." Talking until the dinner-time unconsciously, they invited all girls to come to enjoy dinner together. After servants arranged the tables and chairs and listed the cups and plates already, mothers, daughters, and sisters finish their dinner. Precious Jade farewells Master Merchant and go home with all his sisters together. 且说贾芸进去见了贾琏，因打听：“可有什么事情？”贾琏告诉他说：“前儿倒有一件事情出来，偏偏你婶娘再三求了我，给了芹儿了。他许我说：明儿园里还有几处要栽花木的地方，等这个工程出来，一定给你就是了。”那贾芸听了，半晌说道：“既这么着，我就等着罢。叔叔也不必先在婶娘跟前提我今儿来打听的话，到跟前再说也不迟。”贾琏道：“提他做什么？我那里有这工夫说闲话呢？明日还要到兴邑去走一走，必须当日赶回来方好。你先等着去，后日起更以后，你来讨信，早了我不得闲。”说着，便向后面换衣服去了。

Yun Merchant(Rutagraveolens L.) walks in to visit Romance Merchant; "Are there anything for me to do?" Yun takes the opportunity to enquire Romance tells him, "there was really a job a few days ago, but your aunt asked me over and over again, so I gave it to Qin Merchant(Apium graveolens L.). Your aunt has promised me that must give you another project to plant the flowers and trees of the garden later." After hearing that and waiting for a while, Yun Merchant says, " in that case, uncle does not need to mention me in front of aunt that I have come there to enquire today, and it is not late to discuss that when everything is ready." "Why you talk about her suddenly? Do I have any spare time to gossip? I have togo to Xingyi tomorrow and must come back at the same day. I just go back, wait and come again to get much more detailed information at 7 p.m. the day after tomorrow since I cannot be free until that time." After hearing that and waiting for a while, Jia Yun says, " in that case, uncle does not need to mention me in front of aunt that I have come there to enquire today, and it is not late to discuss that when everything is ready." "Why talk to him? Do I have any spare time to gossip? I have to go to Xingyi tomorrow and must return at the same day. I just go back, wait and come again to get much more detailed information at 7 p.m. the day after tomorrow since I cannot be free until that time." Knowing Feng was coming back, she wrote a ticket for pairs of cards and went outside the courtyard to get someone to get everyone informed.Cai Ming walked out for the tickets and went in to check and approve the account of silver and year and month and gave the stuff along with cards ,to Rue Merchant.Rue Merchant felt very happy to receive the booklet and scrutinised it,which approved to offer ten thousand grams of silver.She turned around to the silver vault to get the silver and went home to tell her mother,which made the both of two extremely pleasant.Rue Merchant went for Ni Two to return the silver at dawn the next day.

Splendid Phoenix King said with a smile:"You are such a master who's good at making long plans. Anyway, had it not been for your uncle's recommendations, I would never have got involved in your business. I will return here as soon as I have lunch and you come here at noon to get some silver and plant some flowers afterwards." She then ordered the horseman to start the ornate wagon and went away. Rue Merchant could't help beaming with pleasure. He went to QiSan Study to inquire about Precious Jade, only to find that he had already left for North Serene Mansion. Rue Merchant stayed there doing nothing until the midday. Knowing Sister Phoenix was coming back, he wrote a ticket for claiming items and went outside to the courtyard to let someone tell Sister Phoenix that he came. Cai Ming walked out for the tickets and then went in to check and confirmed the amount of silver and the date, then gave the stuff along with tickets to Rue Merchant. Rue Merchant felt very happy to receive the booklet and saw that it read ten thousand grams of silver. He went to the silver vault, get the silver and went home to tell his mother.
