The technique, which the team call "capacitive fingerprinting" was presented by Harrison at the UIST conference in Cambridge, Massachusetts this week.

The system works by sending multiple frequencies of a weak electrical current through a user's finger when they first touch a device. Different frequencies take different paths to the ground through the human body, and the team's prototype measures the path each frequency takes, building up an electrical profile that is unique to the user (see video). Each user's interaction with the touchscreen is then assigned to their profile. The system builds on Disney's Touche system, which lets everyday objects detect touch gestures.

Harrison envisions tablets that allow multiple people to use a touchscreen simultaneously, primarily to play games or for activities like painting. Belfast Garden Club's October Meeting

The October meeting of The Belfast ニューバランス 996 Garden Club will take place Tuesday, October 16, featuring a presentation and discussion, "Caring for your fruit trees" by Mark Fulford of Teltane Farm in Monroe.

The program is free ニューバランス 1300 and the public is コンバース ハイカット encouraged to attend. The afternoon meeting and program take place at St. Margaret Episcopal Church Parish House, 95 Court St., Belfast.

Mark Fulford, an independent farm consultant and educator with 40 years of agricultural experience, operates Teltane Farm in Monroe with his wife, Paula. He teaches how to transition from プラダ トートバッグ conventional to organic and biological agriculture, handson skills in organic orcharding, nonelectric water ニューバランス レディース technologies and soil, crop and forage nutrition. He's studied new developments in agriculture in Australia, the Philippines and mainland China.

The Garden Club has promoted civic beautification since 1929. They maintain 12 gardens around the city each year, host Open Garden Days garden tours during the summer, and support education through donations to the Belfast Free Library, Troy Howard Middle School Garden Project, and an annual education scholarship. RUBY PRATKA,Lillian Kaufman lives in a retirement home in Notre Dame de Grace. オークリー The apartment she shares with her sister has a spacious living room with a large window, where she can look out over the city that has been her home for the last 106 years.

Kaufman, who was born ニューバランス in Germany in 1903 and came with her family to Montreal as an infant, turned 107 on Dec. 18. She and about two dozen nieces, nephews, ディーゼル 店舗 greatnieces and greatnephews celebrated in her apartment with smokedmeat sandwiches and reminiscences.

When Kaufman was growing up, her father owned a shoe store near Notre Dame St. W. and she lived upstairs with her three セリーヌ 店舗 sisters and two brothers.

She says she never went プラダ to high school as a teenager, but never stopped hoping for more education.

"When I started working, I decided to get a better education," she says. Dawson printing company, she took night classes to receive her high school diploma and was eventually accepted into McGill University, where she studied accounting for two years.

After she got married in 1950, she left university but kept working an unusual decision at the time. Dawson, like many firms at the time, was a man's world. Kaufman had started working there in コンバース ジャックパーセル the 1930s as a typist. "There were only four women and so many men," she says.

"I was always nosing around the place; everything in the office I wanted to watch," she says. "I started during the Depression as a typist, but then they got a bookkeeping machine and I was the only person who knew how to operate it."

She became a bookkeeper and eventually an accountant and office manager, and stayed at the company for 40 years until her husband's death in 1976.

She and her husband had no children, but she keeps in close touch with her numerous nieces and nephews.

She is active in Montreal's Jewish community and has been to Israel several times.

In her 70s, because she "had nothing else to do," she got a job with a travel agency for seniors and travelled across the United States and Canada. She also travelled across Europe, to Greece, Italy, Switzerland and Israel.

She says Italy was one of her favourite places. "Because it's where the pope is and where the Vatican is, it has all that history."

Kaufman has seen much of Montreal's history unfold. She remembers what the streets were like during プラダ トートバッグ the Second World War. "Business

was ニューバランス m1400 good, but it was so quiet because all the boys were gone," she says. Since that time, she says, the city has changed almost beyond recognition.

"There's more population, more immigrants more highrises!" she says, waving her hand toward the window of her apartment. "All this didn't exist!"

She remembers the raucous Stanley Cup parties of past decades, and wags an angry finger as she bemoans the Canadiens' recent weak performances.

"I'm so mad they've been doing so badly," she says. But there's one player she has a soft spot for: Michael Cammalleri. "He's a nice Jewish boy," she says.

Besides watching Habs games, Kaufman says she doesn't do much anymore. And she says there are no secrets to her longevity. It appears to run in her family: One of her sisters will turn 100 next spring and her grandmother died in an accident at age 98. 相关的主题文章:
