Boring as Dragon Marshgrass felt, he laughed, "who knows 'Tangyin'or 'Yintang'?" A manservant came to reply when he was talking, "Purple Flower is coming!" So, Precious Jade knew it was Purple Flower that came. Dragon Marshgrass and the other people all called, "please get him in as soon as possible." Before they finished their sentences, Purple Flower, talking and laughing, came in. People rushed to stand up to invite him to sit. Smiling, Purple Flower said, "OK! All of you are sure to stay indoors and have a good time, aren't you?" Precious Jade and Dragon Marshgrass both laughed again, "We meet each other not frequently. Before their sentences were finished, Purple Flower, talking and laughing,had came in. People rushed to stand up to invite him to sit. Smiling, Purple Flower said, "Great! All of you are sure to stay indoors and have pleasure together, aren't you?" Precious Jade and Dragon Marshgrass both laughed again, "We meet each other not frequently. 紫英答道：“家父倒也托庇康健，近来家母偶着了些风寒，不好了两天。” 薛蟠见他面上有些青伤，便笑道：“这脸上，又和谁挥拳来？挂了幌子了！”冯紫英笑道：“从那一遭把仇都尉的儿子打伤了，我记了，再不怄气，如何又挥拳？这脸上是前日打围，在铁网山叫兔鹘梢了一翅膀。”宝玉道：“几时的话？”紫英道：“三月二十八日去的，前儿也就回来了。”

Purple Flower replied, "My father owes his health to your prayer,but my mother has caught a cold for two days now." Precious Jade said "No wonder I didn't see you in brother Shen's feast in earlier third and forth. I was about to ask but didn't know why I have forgot to. Is it only you have gone there or your father has gone too?" Purple flower answers "My father has been there, I have no choice but quit going. Do I get too idle so that I get insane? Aren't we happy to drink, play and watch operas? Why we bother to go? This time it's indeed the best out of the worst." 冯紫英听说，便立起身来说道：“论理，我该陪饮几杯才是，只是今儿有一件大大要紧事，回去还要见家父面回，实不敢领。”薛蟠宝玉众人那里肯依，死拉着不放。冯紫英笑道：“这又奇了。你我这些年，那一回有这个道理的？果然不能遵命。若必定叫我领，拿大杯来，我领两杯就是了。”众人听说，只得罢了，薛蟠执壶，宝玉把盏，斟了两大海。那冯紫英站着，一气而尽。

Purple Hero Horse heard, stood and said, “Sorry,I can’t drink.speaking, I should toast with others. But there is something emergent to tell my father when I come home.” Dragon Marshgrass and Precious Jade and others didn’t give up persuading Purple Hero Horse to drink alcohol. If necessary, bring me the huge glass and I will drink two cups of liquor.” After hearing that, people have to give up. Hearing that, Purple Hero Horse stood up and said, "Well, I should drink with you. But I have something emergent to tell my father when I come home, so I really dare not to drink.” Dragon Marshgrass and Precious Jade with all the others won't give up. Purple Hero Horse smiled, “How odd! For all these years we never like that! So fetch the big cup if you insist, and I'll drink two cups.” Hearing that, they had to give up. 宝玉道：“你到底把这个‘不幸之幸’说完了再走。”冯紫英笑道：“今儿说的也不尽兴，我为这个，还要特治一个东儿，请你们去细谈一谈；二则还有奉恳之处”。说着撒手就走。薛蟠道：“越发说的人热刺刺的丢不下，多早晚才请我们？告诉了也免的人犹豫。”冯紫英道：“多则十日，少则八天。”一面说，一面出门上马去了。

Precious Jade said:"Why don't you full that 'the best out of the worst' thing before you go?" Purple Hero Horse smiled:" Also I haven't talked enough today. I should pay another guest the other day, inviting you to talk carefully. What's more, I have something to ask for your help." Then he was just going to leave. Dragon Marshgrass said:"It's more appetizing. When will you invite us? Set a day so that we won't care." Purple Hero Horse said:" About eight to ten days later." 众人回来，依席又饮了一回方散。宝玉回至园中，袭人正记挂着他去见贾政，不知是祸是福，只见宝玉醉醺醺回来，因问其原故，宝玉一一向他说了，袭人道：“人家牵肠挂肚的等着，你且高乐去，也到底打发个人来给个信儿。”宝玉道：“我何尝不要送信儿，因冯世兄来了，就混忘了。” 正说着，只见宝钗走进来，笑道：“偏了我们新鲜东西了！”

Coming back, the other people didn’t break up until resumed their potations. Precious Jade returned to the Garden in a state of cheerful inebriation. Aroma, who had had no idea what the summons from Master Merchant might portend and was still wondering anxiously what had become of him, at once demanded to know the cause of his condition. He gave her a full account of what had happened. Aroma said, “Here were we practically beside ourselves with anxiety, and all the time you were there enjoying yourself! You might at least have sent word to let us know you were all tight.” “I was going to send word,” said Precious Jade. “Of course I was. But then Purple Flower arrived and it put it out of my mind.” At that moment Precious Hairpin Marshgrass walked in, all smiles. “I hear you’ve made a start on the famous present,” she said.--Deng Ruixin (talk) 11:54, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

一步步行来，见宝钗进宝玉的园内去了，自己也随后走了来。刚到了沁芳桥，只见各色水禽尽都在池中浴水，也认不出名色来，但见一个个文彩闪灼，好看异常，因而站住，看了一回。再往怡红院来，门已关了，黛玉即便叩门。谁知晴雯和碧痕二人正拌了嘴，没好气，忽见宝钗来了，那晴雯正把气移在宝钗身上，正在院内报怨说：“有事没事，跑了来生着，叫我们三更半夜的不得睡觉。”

Walking step by step, Mascara Jade Forest then came after seeing Precious Hairpin Marshgrass go to Precious Jade's court. When Mascara Jade came to Qingfang Bridge, seeing all kinds of waterfowl that she could hardly name but were all sheen and glossy with extreme beauty bath in the pool, She stood and admired for a while. Then she came to the Happy Red Court where its door had already closed. When Mascara Jade knocked the door, Sunny Cloud Formation had just ended a quarrel with Turquoise Mark and was still in no mood. Seeing Precious Hairpin come, Sunny Cloud Formation just vented her anger on her and complained, "What's wrong with her? But noticing some unusually beautiful waterfowl of various species unkonwn to her splashing about in the pool by Qingfang Bridge, she stopped for a while to admire their brilliant colours.By the time she reached Happy Red Court the gate had already closed. When Mascara Jade knocked the door, Sunny Cloud Formation had just quarrelled with Turquoise Mark and was in a bad mood,and at Precious Hairpin's arrival, Sunny Cloud Formation transferred her anger to the vistor.She was grumbling in the courtyard: "She keeps comming here and sitting around for no reason, keeing us up till the third watch at night. --He Minghui (talk) 12:43, 27 March 2022 (UTC)

忽听又有人叫门，晴雯越发动了气，也并不问是谁，便说道：“都睡下了，明儿再来罢！” 黛玉素知丫头们的情性，他们彼此玩耍惯了，恐怕院内的丫头没听见是他的声音，只当别的丫头们了，所以不开门，因而又高声说道：“是我，还不开门么？”晴雯偏生还没听见，便使性子说道：“凭你是谁，二爷吩咐的，一概不许放人进来呢！”

Suddenly, Hearing another one knocking at the door, Sunny Cloud Formation became more angry, and didn’t ask who is it only said: “I’ve already gone to bed. Come back tomorrow! ” Mascara Jade knew the fellows characters. They often bantering with each other. Supposing the fellow within the yard would not recognize her voice and mistake her as others,so that she did not open the door, Mascara Jade raised her voice and said : “:It’s me, not open yet? ” However, Sunny Cloud Formation still didn’t realize it is Mascara Jade and lost her temper, saying that “No matter who you are. 黛玉听了，不觉气怔在门外，待要高声问他，逗起气来，自己又回思一番：“虽说是舅母家如同自己家一样，到底是客边。如今父母双亡，无依无靠，现在他家依栖，如今认真怄气，也觉没趣。”一面想，一面又滚下泪珠来了。真是回去不是，站着不是。正没主意，只听里面一阵笑语之声，细听一听，竟是宝玉宝钗二人。

Hearing that, Mascara Jade could not help being vexed outside the door. When she was about to raise her voice and question him, angrily, she started to rethink about what was happening just now. “Although I was taught to perceive Aunt’s home as my own home, I was still a guest basically. Bereft of parents and alone, I now lived in other’s house. It was nonsensical of me to take it seriously and argue with him.” While she was thinking, tears were rolling down. She found herself was caught in a dilemma of leaving or staying. As she did not know what to do, from indoors came a burst of laughter. She found herself caught in a dilemma of whether or not to leave. As she did not know what to do, from the inside came a burst of laughter. Mascara Jade was more angrier. She constantly thought wildly in mind and suddenly the morning’s event occurred to her. “Precious Jade must be mad about my criticizing him. However, there wasn’t only me doing that. You don’t ask clearly but take offense at me to such an extent! Today you don’t open the door for me, so won’t we meet tomorrow?”she felt more upset as thinking of it. Flowers had emotions and souls but kept silent ; birds woke up from dreams and were at a loss. Just as a poem saying, such superior talent and appearance Frowner owned;She went out of her boudoir with fragrant flowers in her arms; As the first sob passed her lips, flowers fell into soil and birds were frightened and flew away. Yang Fei played with butterflies by the Raindrop Pavilion, Fei Yan weeps for withered flowers by the Flowers' Grave. As Mascara Jade Forest was weeping, there was a sudden sound at the courtyard gate and Precious Hairpin Marshgrass came in, and was accompanied by Precious Jade Merchant and Aroma with servants. She had meant to ask Precious Jade, but held back and let Precious Hairpin pass out of fear of embarrassing him in front of so many people. Until Precious Jade went back in and closed the door, she turned around, sheding some tears. 紫鹃雪雁索日知道黛玉的情性：无事闷坐，不是愁眉，便是长叹，且好端端的，不知为了什么，常常的便自泪不干的。先时还有人解劝，或怕他思父母，想家乡，受委屈，用话来宽慰解劝。谁知后来一年一月的，竟是常常如此，把这个样儿看惯了，也都不理论了。所以也没人去理，由他闷坐，只管睡觉去了。那林黛玉倚着床栏杆，两手抱着膝，眼腈含着泪，好似木雕泥塑的一般，直坐到二更多天，方才睡了。一宿无话。

At first, someone tried to persuade her; or afraid that she missed her parents and hometown and was wronged, someone comforted her by soft words. So everyone paid no attention to her, went to sleep, and just let her sit alone. Mascara Jade Forest leaned against the rail of the bed and clasped her hands over her knees with tears in her eyes, looking like a wood carving or a stone statue.
