The New York Times reports that in the upcoming season of Saturday Night Live, President Obama will finally be played by an African-American actor, while Mitt Romney will be played by Jason Sudeikis.

Obama has long been played by half-white,Beats By Dr Dre, half-Asian actor Fred Armisen — a curious choice given Obama's status as the first black president (though Obama too is half white).

The Times reports:

Mr. Sudeikis had been rumored to be part of this year’s “SNL” diaspora: Andy Samberg,Beats By Dr Dre, Abby Elliott and Kristen Wiig have all departed. “Right now the idea is that Jason will go through at least until January,Beats By Dre,” Mr. Michaels said,Lady Gaga Monster, though he did not rule out getting a full season out of Mr. Sudeikis.

That leaves the question of whom Mr. Sudeikis will face in debate sketches. Fred Armisen has been the show’s President Obama since 2008,Lady Gaga Monster, but Mr. Michaels said he would be relying on Jay Pharoah,Beats By Dre, who joined the cast in 2010.

“Jay has been doing Obama in his act this summer, and Jay is coming into his own,” Mr. Michaels said. “I just thought it might be time to shake it up.”

Mitt Romney,Beats By Dre, under attack by his opponents over his record of layoffs and restructuring at Bain Capital,Lady Gaga Monster, said Wednesday that President Barack Obama was also forced to lay off people in the auto industry.

"In the general election,Beats By Dre, I'll be pointing out that the president took the reins of General Motors and Chrysler,Beats By Dr Dre, closed factories, closed dealerships, laid off thousands and thousands of workers. Coming soon to a war zone or an American city near you: unmanned,Beats By Dr Dre, nuclear-powered drones.

The Federation of American Scientists' Secrecy News reports that a recent Sandia National Laboratories and Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation project received a favorable assessment on a secret technology to double the flying time of one of President Obama's favorite War on Terror weapons. According to Secrecy News,Lady Gaga Monster, that technology is pretty unambiguously nuclear power:

On close reading, it seems clear that the Sandia-Northrop project contemplated the use of nuclear technology for onboard power and propulsion.

The project summary, which refers to “propulsion and power technologies that [go] well beyond existing hydrocarbon technologies,” does not actually use the word “nuclear.” But with unmistakable references to “safeguards,Lady Gaga Monster,” “decommissioning and disposal,” and those unfavorable “political conditions,Lady Gaga Monster,” there is little doubt about the topic under discussion.

The Sandia-Northrop scientists concluded that the current political environment probably precluded the use of drones powered by nuclear material — after all, drones crash a fair amount and Americans are probably not to keen about atomic vehicles with a spotty safety record hovering above their homes.
