Yan Geling is a famous comtemporary Chinese women writer.She is a Chinese-American.In America,she is a well-known Hollywood script writer.She is a member of the Hollywood Writer's Guild of America and the Writer's Association of China.She has recieved many awads. - In 1958,Yan was born in Shanghai, China.Soon after, her parents divorced.
- In 1970,when she is 12 years old,she became as a ballet dancer and served in the People's Liberation Army during the Cultural Revolution in Tibet.
- In 1979,as a journalist,she took part in the Sino-Vietnamese War,achieving a rank equivalent to Lieutenant Colonel.
