Woods scandal makes sponsors wary

Accenture was one of the first sponsors to dump Tiger Woods. (Stuart Franklin/Getty Images)The selfdestruction of Tiger Inc. is calling into question whether companies can afford the risk of signing multimillion dollar contracts with celebrity endorsers.

Done オークリー 激安 right, celebrities can help boost both the sale of products and their maker's image.

But the hasty and stunning downfall of Tiger Woods shows how quickly things ニューバランス 人気 can sour when a superstar athlete's negative life choices are exposed by today's realtime tabloid news culture.

Woods and his advisers spent years cultivating a goodguy image to go along with his winning ways, which is how he became プラダ トートバッグ the first athlete and perhaps last $1 billion US earner.

It's also what has made ニューバランス his fall even more jarring.

"The billiondollar athlete might be a thing of the past," said Laura Ries, president of marketing consulting firm Ries "want a safe choice and it seems like there's almost no safe choice out there."

Most of Woods' $100 million US in annual earnings came not from tournament winnings but from companies like Accenture that wanted to be associated with his persona.

These image ads are the type least likely to endure.

Ultimately that could mean few other sports figures will follow in Woods's footsteps.

"There has to be trust and he's just taken a grenade to any kind of traditional agreement that you'd normally have," said John Sweeney, director of sports communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Accenture severed ties with Woods on Sunday, two days after he announced an indefinite leave from professional golf to work on his marriage after admitting to infidelity.

It said he was "no longer the right representative" トリーバーチ アウトレット of the company's values.

That's not surprising since the global consulting firm had pinned its identity on the golfer and bragged that he embodied Accenture's values of perfection and integrity.

AT said it is also is evaluating エアジョーダン 11 its relationship with Woods, as is Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer.

Procter Gillette brand announced over the weekend it was distancing itself and won't run any セリーヌ公式 ads featuring the golfer.

Nike and EA Sports say they are standing by him.

Other companies are likely to use the implosion of Tiger Inc. as a warning that they must closely scrutinize offfield behaviour of any sports star they're considering hiring and just how much benefit they're going to get.

Even then, they'll likely be wary of ads that bank on a celebrity's image and instead go for that star's endorsement of a product.

"Brands continually will ニューバランス スニーカー come back to individuals エルメス バッグ who they believe will help them sell more product," said Rick Burton, former chief marketing officer of the United States Olympic Committee and now a sports marketing professor at New York State's Syracuse University .

"The capitalism of all this is if Tiger can help somebody sell a brand in the future, they're going to use Tiger."

Michael Frolik silenced the crowd at Joe Louis Arena with a セリーヌ ラゲージ historic penalty shot to help the Chicago Blackhawks survive yet another elimination game against the Detroit Red Wings. This and more in the top NHL playoff stories from Monday. The Twitter world reacted in kind. 相关的主题文章:

プラダ People Poking Fun at Your Music

People Poking Fun at Your Music

Okay, I go through my ipod once or twice a month and totally revamp my music. I erase about 90% of my nonfavorite stuff to make room for more songs. Every time I tell my friends this, they cheer and ask to see the new songs (first sign is the level of cheering). Then, they burst into giggles as they read the names. They totally プラダ crack up until they reach music they've heard of (cough Fray and the Beatles cough). Then, they hand me back the ipod and make some "funny" comments. I don't really care, because I HATE their music, but ニューバランス スニーカー it's kinda annoying. Do YOUR friends do that too? (just curious)

Don't give up on everyone, turns out a girl I had completely discounted because whilst I was friends with her she hung out with top 100ers listened to indie music. I バーバリー バッグ found this out more than a year after high school when I asked her if she realised she had a radiohead icon on msn.

As far as friends go I have a techno best friend, a hardcore best friend and an indie/weird electronic best friend. Still they don't listen to top 100 so there's no hating.

Yes. well there are exactly three people at my school that have the same musical taste as I do. One is my friend (YAY! I converted her!) THe other I don't talk to for some reson, and the other only know about indie stuff because her bf is a total hipster, and I pretty much エアジョーダン10レトロ have a mutual hatred with her.

Most of my friends either listen to a radio station hosted by Ryan freaking Seacrest or thagt emo/screamo/whatever that is that makes my ears bleed whilst crying and whose fans take forever to do thier hair.

i feel i need to say something, コンバース 厚底 please don't see this as a poke haha. but this discussion is based on you thinking its wrong that your friends find your mucistaste somewhat "funny" not the music that is preferable for you to listen to. well hm. they are jerks for thinking that if you feel bad about them joking about it, tell them off!

but, everyone who comments here about their music (their= friends or pretty much anyone at your highschool)(so called "hipsters" or whatever) also sucking etc. whaat? just cause they listen to more popular songs than you doesn't mean their taste suck! if you think their music suck than i think they have the right to think your musictaste suck as well, no? if they only listen to music connected with a certain scene, even if you トリーバーチ 公式 believe they dont really like the music in question at all let them! its their music! its nothing wrong, its not like they dont understand "music the way you do" cause you listen to more obscure bands.

sorry for coming out somewhat an asshole here but. yeah. im gonna quote something the singer in MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE (i dont listen to that band, not my style, but doesnt mean i think the people who do are jerks or less musical intellectual) said:

"If for one minute you think you're better than a sixteen year old girl in a Greenday tshirt, you are sorely コンバース ワンスター mistaken. Remember the first time you went to a show and saw your favourite band. You wore their shirt, and sang every word. You didn't know anything about トリーバーチ サンダル scene politics, haircuts, or what was cool. All you knew was that this music made you feel different from anyone you shared a locker with. Someone finally understood you. This is what music is about." 相关的主题文章:

エルメス バーキン and hopefully the worst

and hopefully the worst

It probably is not very easy to write a biography of a woman who has been on various lists of the world most influential persons. But the エルメス バーキン story of Indra Nooyi, CEO, PepsiCo, is one begging to be told, and it is only surprising コンバース ハイカット that it has taken this long.

Even if not the conventional rags to riches story, Nooyi is certainly engrossing, given her origins, and the paths she has since taken. While truthfully claiming itself to be biography, this book is a meticulous collection of Nooyi interviews, remarks and speeches at public fora, woven in with a richly imagined personal life culled from a few bare facts, thrown in with recollections from people who knew her.

Purporting to be a chronicle of the inspiring story of an Indian woman who went on to become the CEO of PepsiCo is clever; and half the battle won, because Nooyi life is automatically inspiring without the embellishments of good writing, sharp and insightful perspective, and a sense of humour. Nothing more.

The book starts media res a grown girl eyeing her two buckets of rationed water in a middle class neighbourhood in conservative Chennai.

The book then sketchily traces Indra Nooyi nee Krishnamurthy passage through Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, and Madras トリーバーチ ポーチ Christian College. And then on, her courage and determination taking her on to the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and further on to Yale, before she is hired by Boston Consulting Group, a stepping stone to joining PepsiCo.

Right through there are references to Nooyi rounded personality leadership and communication skills, her boldness and conviction, her talent in music (she even joined Harry Belafonte in song many years later at an event for PepsiCo), her devotion to her family, and her strong grounding in the religion and culture she was brought up バーバリー コート in.

This biography, it must be remembered, is through the eyes of an unalloyed fan making it a panegyric of バーバリー sorts. Peppered right through Nooyi life, and thus プラダ トートバッグ through the トリーバーチ 靴 early parts of the book, are hints of a bright and splendid future, and the scarcelyconcealed awe that someone from such circumstances could rise so far in life. But then, biographies are not necessarily in the business of honesty.

The fact though, is that Nooyi life is truly aweinspiring, the mere narration of its sequence sufficient to draw admirers from all corners of the world. For a woman born in a conservative middleclass family in the South in the 1950s she has indeed come a long way.

Not without battles being fought every step of the way, right from going to Tambaram (MCC) for her higher education, right to fighting prejudices and poverty to rise and skim the surface of corporate America. The role of her family, principally mother, husband and kids, in her achievements is underlined.

Annapoorna focuses attention, rightly so, on the バーバリー ネクタイ controversies surrounding the Pepsi brand. While doing so, she establishes Nooyi as PepsiCo healthfoods ambassador, rallying subtly to her support while talking of the pesticide and groundwater controversy that hit both Pepsi and its competitor Coke, in India recently.

Nooyi strategically acquired for her company Tropicana and Quaker Oats, the first of many brands エルメス スカーフ that would コンバース ワンスター take them from funforyou foods to betterforyou and goodforyou category of foods. still reducing salt, reducing sugar, frying our products in hot, healthy oil. I think we doing a great job at transforming our portfolio says Nooyi. Nooyi, at 56, perceivably has many more laurels coming her way. As a this slim biography, ostensibly the first such, still manages to kindle the basic curiosity of the reader. 相关的主题文章:
