You've probably heard that exercise can help to increase energy and improve many illnesses but have you ever actually thought about doing something about it? There's a term that floats about in the CFS terminology ether: graded exercise. Now what does that mean for the average CFS patient, if you can call us average that is? Basically, it means do what you can without setting yourself back a week. Depending on how badly you're affected will determine that amount of energy you can put into exercise. The actual benefits of exercise for CFS patients are as follows:

Assuming that you're only mildly affected by CFS and have been walking for sometime you're in a good position to begin running. Now, I wouldn't recommend starting with a full blown marathon otherwise you'll just end up in the hospital with exhaustion and horrible shin splints. One of the tried and tested ways that I have used in the past is interval training.

Interval training consist of both running and walking segments that start of with short bursts of running and longer sessions of walking to recover.
