Glimpses of Daniel DeNardo
(This is a followup to my エルメス スカーフ column about the lonely death of Daniel DeNardo, a perennial fringe candidate, that ran this morning.)
I found a friend of Daniel DeNardo's. Her name is Pat Thompson, and she is 83. She met him decades ago through Holy Family Cathedral. He was a very devout Catholic, she told me, and sometimes helped with communion at the Providence hospital chapel.
Last time she saw him, months ago, he was very thin. He told her he had leukemia, and suspected it was from his Vietnam exposure to the defoliant Agent Orange. She told him he should get his affairs in order. He told her he was certain he wasn't going to die.
I also had an interesting call from Cliff Groh, a local lawyer who dealt オークリー サングラス with DeNardo in one of his suits. Groh told me he'd researched DeNardo's other legal filings and discovered that DeNardo sued his brother over their mother's estate in Delaware after their mother was killed in an automobile accident. That was 10 years ago.
Thompson said that now all of his family is dead. There are still no services planned, but Thompson said she was going to talk to her church, St. Nicholas of Myrna Byzantine Catholic, about raising money for his burial.

I had a lot of email from people, including a number of people he sued, who remembered him and said they'd like to attend his funeral.
Here are a few of my favorites:
I knew Dan for many years. I am a court reporter, and at times he would come to my office and have me transcribe court proceedings. He definitely was a strange man, but always pleasant and courteous. At times he would come by just to オークリー メガネ rant about a case. One time he called and asked me to bail him out of jail. Another time he called me from Las Vegas. He was sitting on a lily pad at Caesar's Palace being catered to by a bunch of beautiful women who were serving him free drinks. He told me he was staying at a little motel outside of Vegas and he had walked into Caesar's Palace just to check the place out he heard so much about it. he had just walked in to look around and they thought he was somebody important and they gave him the whole celebrity treatment. He definitely was a character.
A few times he talked about his past. He told me he came from a military ニューバランス 996 family, so his family moved around a lot, and his father was high up in the ranks like, colonel or general, and I think he has a brother. He seemed to resent his father wanting him to pursue a military career a career he was not interested in. I don't know why he left the military, but he had very poor eyesight I don't know if that was a factor.
I, too, always wondered how he made money. He was always clean and very neat, clothes always pressed. . I haven't seen Dan in about eight years. I don't know for sure if what he told me about his personal life was true. He always seemed very guarded when he talked to people he trusted no one.
I knew Dan Denardo in the late '70s. We both worked in the Mackay Bldg. annex on 4th. I was the secretary to the Royalty Oil Gas Board and I believe he was a petroleum revenue auditor. I also believe he was "let go" for not paying state union dues. I remember one day walking into his office (he always wore thick eyeglasses), he was reading the newspaper and the print was touching his nose it was so close. I asked if he had forgotten his glasses. He barely looked up and said, " I realized that I don't need glasses, I can see perfectly clear without them. It's a mind over matter thing." That was my first indication that he was a bit off center. Yet, nice enough.
I just read your article on Dan DeNardo on the internet as I moved from Alaska three years ago. I am very saddened to read that Dan has passed away. He was one of my very dear friends. He did graduate from Oregon State University. He came to Alaska in the early 1970s and I met him in the fall of ニューバランス レディース 1974. I still wear a watch that he gave me for my birthday in June 1978.
I covered him on numerous occassions. And while wary at first, bracing myself for a wave of fanatical lunacy followed by a tricky extrication from a persistent loon in a public place I gradually became really fond of him. He was polite, friendly. He even appeared to tacitly understand that I knew he was nuts, I wasn't going to give him much, if any coverage, at all, and, that was ok with him. We reached a dynamic where he would give me his brief spiel, I would give earnest attention. Ask no questions. Then we would shift gears to something completely different. I complimented on his Bolo tie on time and, it was almost embarrassing to see how touched he was. In the end, I liked him a lot.
