Chi replied, "Although I cannot claim to have abilities, I am willing to learn. Taking charge of ancestral temple affairs, participating in meetings with others, organizing ritual and music, I am willing to take on minor responsibilities." Confucius asked Dian, "What are your plans?" Dian played the zither with a melodious tune, then stopped and said, "My aspirations are different from the other three." Confucius said, "What harm is there in that? Each person has stated their own aspirations!" He continued, "In spring, when the spring garments are ready, five or six men wear ceremonial caps, and six or seven boys dress as children.
