It was triggered by the fact I thought I'd seen a photo of one skinny girl blogger, when in fact I'd seen a photo of another; you could write a Shakespearean comedy of errors around these lasses.

Yes, of course, there are some amazing, original bloggers, but there are an awful lot of girls who choose to dress exactly the same, with long ombr hair and floppy hats and Jeffrey Campbell Litas and mini "skater" skirts and American Apparel disco pants. Whichever way you look at it, there is a look amongst these bloggers.

It doesn't mean the blogger isn't as skilled because she or he wants to write about the newest dress that Kim Kardashian wore at the mtv movie awards. It means that the psychology of the bloggers upbringing attracts them to those topics. The plus size blogger obviously will not be blogging as much about these things and will probably blog more about topics surrounding issues that actually affect people on more of a personal level.

I am a plus size blogger and I completely agree with this 100%. Living in Miami, and being involved with a group of super skinny, pretty, "waif" style blogger girls makes it really difficult. Yes, it means I'm working harder and being more persistent. You don't have to be skinny to have style be influential. As a plussized woman, I completely understand and currently agree with this blog. I'd like to point out that there are just as many body types in the "plus sized" world as there are in the straight sized one, and that a woman can be petite and plus sized at the same time(larger/ shorter). Furthermore, I'm going to point out that there are more and more archetypes of plus sized females emerging or reemerging as an alternative to the 1960's Twiggy body type which has been seen on high fashion runways for quite some time now(see GLEE, Adele, Mia Tyler, etc). Something not mentioned is that there is also a difference in finding fashion among the economic classes out there. We do have the combination of Torrid + Lane Bryant, but the quality of the clothing is rather low and the clothes often are made for a body type that is not flattering on us all. Still, when challenged to find plus sized clothing at larger department stores, their online selection is impressive with a price tag to explain the lack of discourse around finding these stores as viable resources for many of us. I think that fatshion bloggers might have a slight edge as of late, but that necessity has been the mother of invention, and though this might be the case at present, it will not always be so.

I'm a "tween" (not skinny, not plus), but I find myself relating more to plussize bloggers if only because of the 'Stick it to The Man' attitude they embody.

I'm also a style blogger in my 30's and I find that yes, the scales are tipped to the blonde, white, and young blogger even if she has banal style and no taste.

But look, I'm not surprised that the blogging world mirrors the fashion industry. It's going to take a lot more Nicolette Masons and Gabi Greggs to even out the playing field.

I'm a larger gal, and I pride myself in finding great fashion in the underbelly of department stores, boutiques, vintage shops, etc. And, I have to say, thanks to great brands like XYDJ, Michael Kors, Tahari, there is some FANTASTIC plus size fashion. I'm always impressed at what I'm finding out there. Some lines only have one awesome piece, but if you look, you can create a collection of "awesome" pieces that will blow skinny chicks right out the water.
