Top of pageAbstractPurpose To investigate the role of chaperone activity of crystallin in seleniteinduced cataract formation.

Methods Selenite cataract was induced in Sprague rats by five subcutaneous injections of sodium selenite over a 20day period starting at 8 days postpartum. Crystallin was separated from the rat lenses by sizeexclusion chromatography. Bovine Lcrystallin and Lcrystallin were isolated for studies in vitro, and for the chaperone assays. The protective effects of both H and Lcrystallin were measured spectrophotometrically in four different assay プーマ 店舗 procedures including the thermally induced プーマ ランニング aggregation of catalase and Lcrystallin, and the ニューバランス 996 fructation and heatinduced inactivation of catalase. The bovine Lcrystallin was incubated with different concentrations of sodium selenite for 72 h and then its chaperone activity against heatinduced Lcrystallin aggregation was assayed. The aggregation of selenitetreated Lcrystallin was analysed by molecular sieve highperformance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Results The protection of Hcrystallin was less than that of Lcrystallin in both normal and cataractous lenses.
