On the Road at Eighteen

In <On the Road at Eighteen> ,余华 put an eighteen year old young man to the life stage alone, to suffer the traps of life. For this young man , the suffering feeling is not only from physical pain but also from the depth of heart ,a feeling about lost of life. It is the beginning of his isolated life. In this novel ,there is less cause and fact , but full fill fate、absurdity、and also incidents . The theme of Avant-garde could be summarized as human nature and existence. Avant-garde tend to show the mess and ugliness of humanity and the suffering and absurdity of people’s existence for example inevitable、fatalistic death. 余华 can be the number one who is good at representing people’s suffering.
