The company is reimagining many of its classic shoes with new colors, stitching, toe shapes and Nike Air cushioning, first introduced into dress heels in 2006. (Nike acquired Cole Haan in 1988.)
Trying to attract a younger crowd, this year the company brought in New York jewelry designer , already a favorite with the trendy set, to create a line of jewelry and "pennies" for loafers. Sheffield is tattooed over much of her body not what you'd expect a Cole Haan woman to look like, and that's precisely the point. "We wanted someone to take us outside of ourselves," said Overfield.

Next up for the company: a line of bridal shoes for spring. "We're looking for that balance of high fashion at a good price," said Overfield, "from a true American fashion company."
